Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech – The Red City Awaits

Arrive in Marrakech, where the ochre-colored city pulses with life. After an airport pickup, you’ll be transferred to a traditional riad in the heart of the medina. Take a brief rest before venturing out for your first golden-hour shoot at Jemaa el-Fna, the bustling square where storytellers, musicians, and snake charmers create a vivid tapestry of life. Capture the colorful chaos as the sun sets behind the Koutoubia Mosque, casting long shadows across the market stalls.

Day 2: Marrakech – Medinas & Palaces

Spend the day photographing the majestic Bahia Palace, the intricate Ben Youssef Madrasa, and the stunning Saadian Tombs. These iconic sites offer opportunities to shoot detailed textures, geometric patterns, and vibrant Moroccan architecture. In the afternoon, head to the Majorelle Garden, where the vivid blues and lush greenery provide a stunning contrast to the city’s red buildings. Sunset photos at the Koutoubia Mosque offer a perfect way to end the day, with the mosque’s silhouette glowing as the city winds down.

Day 3: Marrakech – Essaouira – Coastal Magic

Take a scenic drive to Essaouira, a coastal gem on the Atlantic. With its blue and white medina, ramparts, and bustling harbor, Essaouira is a photographer’s paradise. Capture the fishermen bringing in their catch against the setting sun, the intricate wood carvings in the souks, and the ancient city walls. Explore the narrow streets, perfect for architectural and portrait photography, and don’t miss the opportunity to shoot Essaouira’s seagulls flying over the beach at sunset.

Day 4: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Benhaddou

Head south into the High Atlas Mountains for dramatic landscapes, winding roads, and Berber villages nestled among the peaks. Stop for a photo op in Tizi n’Tichka pass, where the view stretches for miles across the rugged mountains. Continue to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its stunning kasbahs. The sun-kissed red earth and the labyrinth of mud-brick structures offer incredible photo opportunities, particularly during the golden hour.

Day 5: Ait Benhaddou – Skoura Oasis – Dades Valley – Merzouga Desert

On your way to the Merzouga Desert, photograph the Skoura Oasis, with its lush palm groves and historic kasbahs. Continue through the Dades Valley, known for its rugged landscapes and winding roads that cut through cliffs, creating an otherworldly effect. Arrive in Merzouga, where you’ll embark on a camel trek into the Sahara Desert. Capture stunning images of camel caravans, the towering sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, and the changing colors of the desert at sunset and sunrise.

Day 6: Merzouga – Desert Photography & Local Portraits

Spend the day photographing life in the desert. Capture nomadic Berber life, the ever-changing sand dunes, and the dramatic colors of the sky at sunrise and sunset. With the guidance of local Berbers, photograph their daily routines and traditions, from their simple homes to the vibrant colors of traditional attire. The desert’s vastness and silence provide perfect conditions for portrait and landscape shots. In the evening, take long-exposure shots of the desert stars—one of the best places on Earth for astrophotography.

Day 7: Merzouga – Draa Valley – Marrakech - Departure

After a final morning shoot in the desert, head back toward Marrakech, passing through the breathtaking Draa Valley, with its green palm oases and river winding through stark desert landscapes. You’ll either be dropped off at your hotel or the airport in Marrakech, bringing your photography journey to a close.
