Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca

Your journey begins in the coastal city of Casablanca, Morocco’s bustling economic hub. Upon arrival, take time to visit the city’s iconic landmark, the Hassan II Mosque, which stands majestically above the Atlantic Ocean and is one of the largest mosques in the world. Its intricate tilework, towering minaret, and ocean views offer a stunning introduction to Moroccan architecture and spirituality. Depending on your arrival time, you might stroll along the Corniche for a seaside coffee or enjoy a meal at the famed Rick’s Café, a tribute to the classic film Casablanca. Spend the night in a comfortable hotel to rest and prepare for your journey northward.

Day 2: Casablanca to Chefchaouen – The Blue Pearl

After breakfast, take a scenic road trip to Chefchaouen, nestled in the Rif Mountains. The drive takes approximately 5 hours and offers glimpses of Morocco’s changing landscapes—from fertile plains to rugged hills. Chefchaouen is famous for its dreamy, blue-washed medina that seems to glow in the sunlight. Once there, wander through the narrow alleys, admire the colorful doors, and explore quaint artisan shops. The peaceful ambiance of the town, far removed from the hectic pace of larger cities, invites you to slow down. Hike up to the Spanish Mosque just before sunset for panoramic views of the town bathed in golden light. Enjoy a quiet dinner in one of the town’s charming rooftop restaurants and settle in for the night.

Day 3: Chefchaouen to Fes – Into the Heart of History

Leave the tranquility of Chefchaouen behind and head to Fes, the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco. The drive takes about 4 hours, passing through olive groves and fertile farmland. Upon arrival in Fes, get a first taste of the ancient medina—one of the best-preserved medieval cities in the world. In the evening, unwind with a traditional Moroccan meal and perhaps enjoy a visit to a local hammam for a relaxing bath. The maze-like streets and hidden treasures of Fes will be explored in depth the next day, but even your first impressions will reveal a city deeply steeped in history, craftsmanship, and faith.

Day 4: Guided Tour of Fes – A Step Back in Time

Today is dedicated to a comprehensive guided tour of Fes, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Begin your day by entering the Fes el-Bali medina through the Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate) and follow your guide through winding alleyways full of spice shops, dye pits, and bustling souks. Visit the Al Quaraouiyine University, founded in 859 and considered the oldest existing university in the world. Witness the vibrant Chouara Tanneries, where leather is still dyed using traditional methods. Other highlights include the Medersa Bou Inania, Nejjarine Fountain, and the Royal Palace gates. The day will reveal the layered beauty of Fes—from its Islamic architecture to its deeply rooted artisan culture. Return to your riad for dinner and a restful night.

Day 5: Fes to Merzouga – Gateway to the Sahara

An early start sees you journeying from Fes to the edge of the Sahara Desert, a full-day drive that is anything but dull. Traverse the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through alpine towns like Ifrane (often called the “Switzerland of Morocco”) and lush cedar forests where Barbary macaques roam. As the elevation drops, the scenery transitions into the dramatic Ziz Valley with its palm groves and kasbahs. Arriving in Merzouga, you’ll mount a camel for a sunset trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, eventually arriving at a desert camp. Enjoy Berber hospitality, traditional music around a campfire, and a night under the stars—an unforgettable highlight of your trip.

Day 6: Merzouga to Dades Valley – The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs

Awaken before dawn for a magical Sahara sunrise, followed by a camel ride back to Merzouga for breakfast. Today’s journey leads west along the legendary Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, where earthen fortresses dot the landscape. Visit the traditional market town of Rissani, the dramatic Todra Gorges, and quaint Berber villages set against dramatic mountain backdrops. Depending on your pace, overnight in either the Dades Valley or Ouarzazate, both rich in history and natural beauty. This region offers a chance to explore Morocco’s ancient trading routes and film-famous settings, with the valley’s rugged cliffs and blooming rose fields (in season) adding to the charm.

Day 7: Dades Valley to Marrakech – Through the High Atlas

Continue your journey westward toward Marrakech, passing through Ouarzazate—home to the Atlas Film Studios and the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou, a historic ksar that has appeared in films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. From there, drive through the High Atlas Mountains, climbing the winding roads of the Tizi n’Tichka Pass with breathtaking views at every turn. By late afternoon, arrive in vibrant Marrakech. Take a relaxing evening stroll around Jemaa el-Fnaa, the city’s famous square, where snake charmers, food vendors, and storytellers bring the night to life. Rest well in your riad in the heart of the medina.

Day 8: Departure

After your breakfast we will transfer you to Marrakech or Casablanca international airport.
